"Unrequited love"
In Prayer's halls, where drama took flight,
Our paths converged, bathed in stage light.
Rehearsals and lines, a world we did share,
Little did I know, love was lurking there.
Your birthday arrived, a star-filled affair,
A gathering of friends, and you standing there.
Then came the chats, whispers in the night,
A deepening connection, burning ever so bright.
I tumbled and fell, into love's sweet abyss,
My heart and my soul, with a stolen kiss.
I pictured a future, forever entwined,
But a harsh awakening, soon clouded my mind.
The truth, sharp and cold, a painful decree,
My feelings, a river flowing one way, you see.
Though the "us" I envisioned, would never be real,
My love for you, still stubbornly reveals.
Today, Valentine's Day, with my wife and my own,
A family of love, a life I have known.
My heart is content, with the blessings they bring,
But a secret chamber, still tenderly sings.
For in that quiet place, untouched by the years,
Your memory lingers, amidst joys and tears.
The girl from the prayer hall, with eyes full of grace,
Remains in my heart, holding a sacred place.
So Happy Valentine's, to you, far away,
My silent devotion, I offer today.
Though paths diverged, and destiny spun,
My one-sided love, 'til my last breath, will run.
